Equal Tech Solutions
Onboarding playbook

How we work. From day zero to day ninety.

Most MSPs onboard you, disappear for two months, and reappear when something breaks. We don't. Here's exactly what happens in your first 90 days with Equal Tech — sequenced, documented, and predictable so there are no surprises after you sign.

The timeline

Five phases. Ninety days. Zero guesswork.

Every milestone has a specific deliverable you can hold us to. If we miss a date, we tell you why and what we're doing about it — before you have to ask.

  1. 01
    Day 030 minutes

    Discovery call

A real engineer (often the founder) — not a salesperson — gets on a call with you. We listen first: what's running, what's broken, what's keeping you up at night. No demo. No deck. No pressure. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you and point you somewhere that is.

    • 30-minute conversation with a senior engineer, not a BDR
    • Honest assessment of fit before either side commits a dollar
    • Recommended next step in writing within 24 hours
  2. 02
    Week 15–7 business days

    Free IT assessment

We take a look at the actual environment — not a marketing audit, a real one. Endpoints, identity, network, security posture, backup, vendor stack, licensing. We surface what's working, what's exposed, and what's costing you more than it should. You walk away with a written report you own, even if you don't hire us.

    • Endpoint inventory + lifecycle status (Windows / macOS / mobile)
    • Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace tenant audit
    • External vulnerability scan + dark-web credential check
    • Backup verification (does it actually run, and can you restore)
    • Written remediation plan with priorities and effort estimates
  3. 03
    Day 30First 30 days

    Onboarding & stabilization

Once you sign, we start. RMM agents deployed across every endpoint. EDR on every device. MFA enforced where it isn't already. Documentation built from scratch — passwords, vendors, runbooks, network diagram. By the end of the first month, your environment is monitored, hardened, and documented to a standard your last IT person probably never reached.

    • RMM agents on every endpoint, 24/7 monitoring active
    • EDR (CrowdStrike or SentinelOne) deployed and tuned
    • Phishing-resistant MFA enforced on critical accounts
    • Network diagram and asset register completed
    • Helpdesk live — your team can submit tickets day one
    • Vendor list, license inventory, and renewal calendar documented
  4. 04
    Day 60Days 30–60

    Hardening & rollout

Phase two is where the strategic upgrades land. Security awareness training rolled out, immutable backup configured, identity tightened, line-of-business app vendors coordinated. If we found compliance gaps in week one, this is where they get closed — HIPAA, FTC Safeguards, CMMC, whatever applies. By day 60, the environment looks measurably different than the day we started.

    • Immutable backup configured + first restore drill completed
    • Security awareness training launched, baseline phishing test sent
    • Conditional Access policies enforced
    • Compliance evidence binder started for your framework
    • Outstanding remediation items closed or prioritized
  5. 05
    Day 90First QBR

    First quarterly business review

The first QBR — quarterly business review — is where the operating cadence kicks in. We sit down with you and walk through the numbers: tickets resolved, response times, security posture, spend trajectory, and the next 90 days. From here forward, you get this every quarter. No surprises. No hidden invoices. Just a partner you can plan with.

    • Quarterly metrics report (uptime, response time, ticket volume)
    • Security posture review with risk register update
    • Cost optimization findings and licensing audit
    • Roadmap for next 90 days, aligned to your business goals
    • Open Q&A — anything goes, including 'are you still earning the renewal?'

What stays true the whole way

The four commitments running through every phase.

No multi-year auto-renew contracts

First 90 days are committed (we have to invest in onboarding to do the job right). After that, every plan is month-to-month. We earn the renewal every month, not at signing.

Documented, not tribal

Every runbook, password, network diagram, and vendor contact lives in a documentation system you own. If we ever stop being a fit, you can hand the binder to anyone and they can pick up.

Senior engineers, not call-center scripts

The same engineers who scoped your environment in week one are the ones answering your tickets in month six. No ticket hand-offs to a tier-1 reading from a flowchart.

Honest assessments, even when it costs us a sale

If you're better off with a competitor, an internal hire, or just patching what you have, we'll tell you. Long-term reputation matters more than any single contract.

Ready to start at Day 0?

Free 30-minute discovery call. Real engineer. No pitch.

Pick a slot, tell us what's broken, and we'll either help — or honestly tell you who can. That's how every Equal Tech engagement starts.
